Lessen Back Pain with Chiropractic Treatment
People have been going to chiropractors for their back pain ever since the year 1895. Chiropractors believe that back pain, among other things, is often caused by a misalignment of the spine, putting pressure on sensitive nerves, causing pain. With careful spinal manipulation, your back pain can be greatly lessened, if not eliminated altogether.
There are many things that could happen that would make your spine become out of proper alignment, car accidents, falls, stress, pregnancy, and childbirth, just to name a few. In most of these cases, chiropractic care is the best treatment option to help ease your pain.
When you visit a chiropractor, he or she will perform a thorough examination, just as you would get at your regular doctor’s office. You will take with your chiropractor about your pain, and past medical history, and it is important that you be thorough, as all of this information will be used in determining your diagnosis and treatment. You may have some lab tests done, and most likely will have an extensive set of X-rays performed in office, so that the chiropractor can actually view your neck and spine, to better determine the problem that is causing your back pain.
Your chiropractor will not prescribe pain medication for you, and will not recommend that you take anything for pain, other than maybe Tylenol of ibuprofen. You should however, be able to tell a big difference in your back pain after just a couple of treatments.
Some people suffer from a condition known as sciatica, which is nerve related pain, and they too can be greatly helped by chiropractic care. The adjustments made to your neck and spine, and in some cases your hips, can drastically reduce the pressure on the affected nerve, reducing pain, and allowing you to function normally.
The sound made during your adjustments can be quite unsettling, but your chiropractor is not breaking your bones, he is releasing gases that have built up in your inflamed joints, causing you pain. You won’t feel any pain when this is done, as long as you stay completely relaxed and do as your chiropractor instructs. If you tense your muscles up at this time, you may feel pain, or may not get the full benefit of the adjustment.
Chiropractic care can even be performed by a trained chiropractor during your pregnancy, helping to ease the back pain you feel thanks to the extra weight that you are carrying.
Chiropractic care can also help relieve headaches as well, if they are caused by misalignment of the neck, or pinched nerves.
